Türkisch Van

The Turkish Van is famous for loving water—they're often called 'the swimming cats.' Originating from Turkey's Lake Van region, they have a distinctive pattern with color only on their head and tail. They're energetic, athletic, and love to climb.

Turkish Vans are generally healthy with few breed-specific issues. Some may be prone to heart conditions. All-white Vans with blue eyes may be deaf. They're a robust, natural breed with lifespans of 12-17 years.

Their semi-long, water-resistant coat needs minimal grooming—it lacks an undercoat. Provide lots of climbing space and, if possible, access to water for play. They're highly active and need space to run. Not ideal for small apartments.
