LaPerm

The LaPerm's curly coat ranges from wavy to tight ringlets and came from a spontaneous mutation in Oregon in 1982. They're affectionate, curious cats who love being close to their humans. Some are born bald and develop curls later.

LaPerms are generally healthy with no breed-specific genetic conditions. They're one of the healthier purebred cats. May occasionally develop skin sensitivities. Average lifespan is 12-15 years with proper care.

Their unique coat needs gentle brushing to maintain curls—don't brush when dry. Some owners prefer to spritz with water first. They're adaptable, affectionate cats who do well in various living situations. They enjoy interactive play.
