American Curl

The American Curl is instantly recognizable by their uniquely curved-back ears, caused by a spontaneous genetic mutation. First discovered in California in 1981, they're friendly, people-oriented cats who retain kitten-like playfulness into adulthood.

American Curls are generally very healthy. Their unique ears require gentle handling but don't cause health issues. Rare conditions include narrow ear canals requiring regular cleaning. One of the healthier breeds with 12-16 year lifespans.

Both short and longhaired varieties need weekly brushing. Handle their distinctive ears gently—never force them flat. Regular ear cleaning prevents wax buildup. They're adaptable, easygoing cats suited to most living situations.
