Temperament
Overview
The Tonkinese is a cross between Siamese and Burmese, combining the best of both breeds. They have aqua eyes, a medium build, and a silky coat. Playful, social, and talkative (but less than Siamese), they're the perfect middle ground.
Health
Tonkinese can inherit health issues from both parent breeds: respiratory infections, dental problems, and crossed eyes (rare). They may also be prone to inflammatory bowel disease. Generally healthy with 12-16 year lifespans.
Care & Grooming
Their silky coat needs only weekly brushing. They're highly social and need companionship—they don't do well alone. Provide lots of interactive toys and climbing opportunities. They remain playful and curious throughout life.
