Overview
Scottish Folds are instantly recognizable by their folded ears that give them an 'owl-like' appearance. Originating from a barn cat in Scotland in 1961, they're known for their round face and sweet expression. They often sit in unusual positions, including the 'Buddha sit.'
Health
Scottish Folds can develop Osteochondrodysplasia, a cartilage/bone condition related to the folded ear gene. This can cause painful arthritis. Never breed fold-to-fold. Watch for signs of joint pain or stiffness. Regular vet monitoring is essential.
Care & Grooming
Their coat (short or long variety) needs weekly brushing. Handle their ears gently and check for wax buildup. Monitor for any signs of joint discomfort. They're adaptable and easygoing, making them good apartment cats.
