Breed Ratings
Temperament
Overview
The Savannah is a hybrid between a domestic cat and an African Serval, resulting in a tall, spotted, wild-looking cat. They're highly active, intelligent, and bond strongly with their owners. Early generations (F1-F3) retain more wild characteristics.
Health
Savannahs are generally healthy but may be prone to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Some have sensitive stomachs. Note: They may react differently to certain medications and anesthetics. Find a vet experienced with hybrid cats.
Care & Grooming
They need lots of space and exercise—not apartment cats! Provide tall cat trees, puzzle feeders, and interactive play. Many can be leash trained. They may learn to open doors and turn on faucets. Secure your home well!
