Overview

Ragdolls are named for their tendency to go limp and relaxed when picked up. Developed in California in the 1960s, they're known for their striking blue eyes, semi-long coat, and incredibly docile temperament. They follow their owners from room to room like puppies.

Health

Ragdolls can be prone to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and bladder stones. They may also develop Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Regular cardiac screening is recommended. Their laid-back nature means monitoring for obesity is important.

Care & Grooming

Their silky coat is easier to maintain than other longhairs—brush 2-3 times weekly. They're strictly indoor cats due to their trusting nature. Provide plenty of soft beds and perches. They thrive on companionship and don't do well left alone for long periods.
