Temperament
Overview
The Exotic Shorthair is essentially a short-haired Persian—same sweet face and calm personality, but with an easier-to-maintain coat. Often called 'the lazy man's Persian,' they combine the Persian's gentle nature with lower grooming needs.
Health
Exotics share Persian health issues: Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), respiratory problems from their flat face, and eye conditions. They may also develop Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Regular vet checkups and PKD screening are important.
Care & Grooming
Their dense coat needs brushing 2-3 times weekly. Their flat face requires daily eye cleaning to prevent staining. Keep them cool in summer as they can overheat. They're content with moderate play and lots of lap time.
