Overview

The Birman, or 'Sacred Cat of Burma,' is a striking cat with a long silky coat, deep blue eyes, and distinctive white 'gloves' on their paws. Legend says they gained their coloring from a temple goddess. They're gentle, affectionate cats who love being with their families.

Health

Birmans can be prone to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), kidney disease, and a condition called Feline Audiogenic Reflex Seizures (triggered by certain sounds). Some may develop corneal dermoids. Regular vet checkups are important.

Care & Grooming

Their silky single-layer coat doesn't mat easily—brush 2-3 times weekly. They're social cats who do well with other pets. They're not overly demanding but enjoy interactive play. Keep them indoors as they're too trusting for outdoor life.
