Temperament
Overview
The Balinese is essentially a long-haired Siamese, with the same striking blue eyes and colorpoint pattern but with a silky, flowing coat. Named for their graceful movements reminiscent of Balinese dancers, they're intelligent, vocal, and deeply affectionate.
Health
Balinese share health concerns with Siamese: Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), liver amyloidosis, and respiratory issues. They may also be prone to dental problems. Regular vet checkups and dental care are important.
Care & Grooming
Their single-layer coat doesn't mat easily—weekly brushing is enough. They need lots of mental stimulation and interaction. Provide puzzle toys and climbing spaces. They don't like being alone and may become destructive if bored.
